I didn't get the lap band but there is a forum you can visit: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/LapBand/ There is the message board etc. Someone there can answer your questions. Good luck! Vanessa

Dr. Duncan will explain to you when you met him that lap-band does not work well for women, and he is in the process of trying to find out why, it works best in men and not women. Ask him about it when you see him. Good luck and God bless. Lynda

Lynda, Have you ever heard of or considered the Mini Gastric Bypass? Check out CLOS.net---I have lost a little over 200 pounds since July, 2004. I am sold on it. Best advice I ever got---RESEARCH,RESEARCH,RESEARCH and then make an educated decision. Sandy

Sandy, what is the mini bypass and how does it work?

Charlene, The Mini Gastric Bypass is a fairly new weight-loss surgery. I chose it over others for several reasons---shorter surgery time and recovery, better statistics as far as mortality rate, success stories told on MGB Friends site, the fact that the pouch is different and you can eat more and throwing up is rare, and, most of all, I chose this route because it IS reversible if I made a terrible mistake by doing this! There is a possibility of this being on Oprah, so I feel that it is just matter of time before this is widely known! Check out CLOS.net for more information. My advice, though, is RESEARCH so you can make an educated decision. I did and couldn't be happier with the choice I made! Let me know if you have more questions. Sandy
