Need help on picking a WLS Surgeon...Duncan or Champion???

I've changed my mind about using a surgeon at Emory.. Can anyone tell me about Dr. Duncan or Dr. Champion?? Good or bad?? I've heard good things about both.

Michelle, Sorry, I do not know anything about Dr Champion personally, but the surgeon I used was Dr. Michael Williams (shares office space with Dr. Champion). Just wanted to let you know that he is very good, and very knowledgeable. I have had a few minor issues since my surgery, and he and his office staff were great...scheduled the appropriate tests very promptly. A friend of mine's daughter used Dr. Williams also (it was her glowing feelings that steered me to him) and we would both use him again for any surgery needs in a heart beat!! any questions, please feel free to email me. Hi Michelle, I can't say ENOUGH wonderful things about my surgeon, Dr. Robert Richard. I know he is not as close as Atlanta, since he is in Gainesville...but what's an extra 45 minutes when you are in need of a great surgeon. Dr. Richard is doing my gallbladder removal on Tuesday. Peachtree surgical is so special to me dr duncan dr hobson and dr ejeh are the bomb. Erad my profile and maybe you will understand why they saved my life more than once my body rejected and ended almost dying and they saved me they will fight for you. Peachtree Surgical and Bariatrics are the best, they are number 2 in the world for bariatric surgery, if you want number 1, he is in California. I would tell anyone to go to Dr. Duncan or Dr. Hobson, they are the greatest. The rating was given by a medical journal, I beleive it was the New England Medical Journal, I have got to find out for sure, but I beleive they were the ones that did the survey on the best of the best. We all think our surgeons are the best and I am no exception. Dr scott is the best. But he is in rome so I think that is too far away. I personally have not heard anything good about dr duncan. Don't kill me dr duncan patients this is just what I have been told from others in my local support group who had him as a surgeon.

I've heard that they were both very good. My surgeon was Dr. Paul Macik over by Northside hospital. He's really good as well. It seems Atlanta is bustin out with good WLS's! Goody for us! Cheers, Paige

I can tell you that Dr. Champoin had his license taken away for cocaine and alcohol abuse. He has it back now, but I would definitely not recommend him. He studied under Dr. Mal Fobi - who is the world renouned surgeon to the stars (Al Roker, Carnie Wilson), and is the one who developed the Fobi pouch. Dr. Burrowes is very good. I had no complications. He does do it open, but the complications are actually less and the incision is only about 2 inches. Whoever you choose, be sure to search their standing with the medical board and whether or not they have ever had any sanctions or disciplinary actions against their license. Good luck!
