DOES ANYONE KNOW A GOOD SURGEON?
Hi Sandra,
Thank you for writing to me with the info. I appreciate it. I have spoke to Dr Duncans nurse as he was my first choice and they told me the same thing, I have got to loose weight before I can have the surgery. I am willing to try to do so but with my situation I probly wont loose much as I am homebound and cannot go outside and my home is a two room house. I may take 15 steps a day and I sleep most of the time as I am to tired to do anything else. Sometimes I feel like someone has took a baseball bat to me and beat me to death, that is how bad I hurt all over. I cannot cook anything and what I do eat is all the bad stuff but it is the only way I can fix stuff for myself is in the microwave while I am sitting down. I know that five minutes dont seem long but by the time my food is hot I am nearly too tired to eat it. After I eat I then have to sleep again to rest from before. I have family but you know how it is, everyone is too busy to come over every day and help me. I am gonna try the optifast diet next month and not put anything solid in my body and see what happens......wish me luck sweety........thanks again for the info.......

Renee I had to lose 40lbs but lost 32 its the reason that they want as much fat away from the liver as possible so its a positive good thing and as you have heard dr duncan is rated number two in the world for this.. Hello Renee,
Please check out Dr. Steinberg in Atlanta. His number is 404-501-7903.
He did my surgery in October of last year. My BMI was 56 and he didn't ask me to lose any weight before surgery. My wife is going to have surgery by the same Doctor this thursday. He is really good and does a great job. I don't know about Medicare, but please call them and they can tell you everything you need to know. I hope I helped you a little. God bless you and welcome to the Georgia board.

I used Dr. Macik too. He's a wonderful surgeon (cute too
). And his office staff is wonderful.
A friend of the family is a recovery room nurse at Crawford Long hospital and he highly recommends Dr. Duncan. She says he's a great surgeon! I also hear good things about a Dr. Champion in Marietta. My MIL is going to see him.
Check the bariatric surgeons list and see what other OH users in Georgia say about their docs.
Have you contacted home health to see if you can get some help with your day to day needs? I'm pretty sure they are covered by Medicaid/care, I can't keep them straight. Anyway, good thoughts coming your way!

Thanks Paige to you for the info. I dont have Medicare now but it will kick in July of this year and I am just getting a head start on everything. I do appreciate your info.......thanks again.........Yes, I would love for Dr Duncan to do my surgery but his nurse told me I have to loose a certain amount of weight before they can talk to me and I really dont think I can loose that much weight like that, I really dont think I will be here in another six months to loose weight however, I am willing to try and cut back on everything........thanks so much again.......

Hi again, Renee,
Your story sounds so much like mine! I, too, knew that I had to do something or die! Please e-mail me and I will tell you my whole story. I did a LOT of research before choosing the Mini-Gastric Bypass and chose this route for many reasons---namely the shorter surgery time, the fast recovery, the success rate (2 deaths in around 4000 surgeries as compared to the 1 in 200 for other gastric bypass surgeries), and, most of all, because it is reversible if I made a terrible mistake. I didn't!!
The CLOS.net website explains the difference.
