Insurance won't cover WLS, any suggestions?

I've been reading postings since December, and I've decided to go for it. I'm suppose to go the first seminar at Emory Thursday night, but I just found out my insurance (Healthscope) does not pay for any type of WLS (no exclusions). What a downer! Now what? I really don't want to finance the surgery. Any suggestions for those of you who did not have insurance on what you did? I've chosen Emory only because I have three friends that have gone there with no problems. They don't offer any type of discount for those of us without insurance. Thanks! Michelle

Try changing jobs... no kidding. There are so many health plans out there and it takes so long to be approved for some of them like Aetna, BCBS, Medicare. Companies often change their health plans sometime even during your attempts to get approved. Mine did and let me tell you if the new insurance company didn't approve the surgery I would have changes jobs. I just couldn't self pay and I was determined to have this surgery. Luckily for me I'm going to have it next month. Most of the companied all require that same thign though... so you can get started on filling the requirements and see if your compnay will switch or see if you find another job. Hope that helps.
