UNITED HEATH CARE APPEALS

I have UHC-POS and with my job weight loss surgery is excluded. Does this mean that even if I appeal, I still won't be eligible? What recourse do I have if any? What is the appeal process for?

What profession are you in? I work for the school system, and have the exact same scenario. UHC says that they cover the surgery, but the insurance drafted by the system/state excludes it. I have heard that there is a slim chance that you can still get the surgery with an appeal, but you really have to have the medical necessity. I'm going to go for it anyway, so feel free to contact me if you'd like to hear my battle.

I work for a Mortgage servicing company. Have you started youjr appeal process?

Not yet. I'm actually just starting the first approval process; I haven't been rejected yet, but i'm sure it's just a matter of time. I figure by the end of January i'll have my rejection, and start the appeal then.
