Hey all! Well I made it! I am now officially on the other side. I was released from the hospital at 11am today. All in all not too bad an experience. The worse part was the stuff they make you drink for the leak test. They wanted to hold off on my meds until after it (so I was working on about 7 hours!) and they failed to mention it can make some people vomit. So of course I hacked up a lung. But once the anti-nausea meds and pain meds kicked in I was a-ok. I did a lot of walking in the hospital which helped a ton. Where the drain was hurt/was the most sore and boy did it feel weird coming out! I am so glad to be home. I am existing on water, crystall light and jello but so far it seems to be going down fine, and honestly I am not hungry at all. (Mike had a steak last night for dinner - poor boy has been living on fast food for the last few day - and it didnt bother me at all! No cravings, no jealousy) So here is my question. The gas is horrid. I can feel it rumbling inside me but it won't come out! Even though I am doing a good bit of walking. Is it ok to take GasX on your third day out? I'm taking my pain meds in a pill and don't see to have an issue with pills. The drs office is closed and I really dont want to call the emergency line because of gas, lol! Any advice would be appreciated! On the losing side, Beth

Hey Beth! Glad to see you home, safe and sound! At 3 days out, it is perfectly ok to call your doc, even if it's about gas ok? My doc had me on Mylecon gas drops for infants, they make generic which is fine and much cheaper! After the bottle was gone I got phazyme gel caps and did fine with them also. Good luck sweetie! Remember walking prevents blood clots, REALLY important the first few weeks. And sip, sip, sip to prevent dehydration. Barb

I am taking my Mylicon off brand and they said chewable Gas X and I am taking it to the hospital with me Monday. Go ahead my dr. said it would be fine right after you wake up and hurting but keep walking. Hugs, Heather

Thanks everyone for the responses. I took a chewable gas-x yesterday whih seemed to help and today am feeling a lot better. Been doing laps around my house and managed to drink 6 oz of a protein shake this morning -- only took me 45 minutes lol! I am about to hop into the shower and figure that is going to do a lot to make me feel human again too! Hugs, Beth
