that's why they call them 'attacks'. it's not an all the time feeling. They will continue to gradually get worse - but you can put this off for a while if necessary by watching what you eat. I only took a week off work - my GB surgery was out paitent.... I think you need to see a doctor though! (here's some incentive....I lost a fast 15 lbs right after my GB surgery.....something about that surgery makes you drop "quick" weight) Dee Dee

You're right, Laura. Sometimes, it worked, other times it didn't. Things that made me especially sick were chocolate (many forms), nuts, pancakes with syrup, oranges, grapefruits, and other thing**** or miss. That's part of the reason it took sooooo long for the docs to diagnose me. It took from August (my first appointment) to April to get that thing out. At the very first appointment, two girlfriends told me to tell the doc it was my gall bladder. No one believed me because the pain was everywhere, and the foods were not follow a particular pattern. I would get relief from having Drew who was a teenager walk on my back. (Don't do it!) I finally figured out that after I got sick, I would feel better in about thirty minutes (my first dumping experiences). At the beginning, I thought I was dying. They checked for kidney stones, ulcers, etc. throught the process. Apparently, I'm spastic everywhere including the old gall bladder. Get it out!!! I had it done as an outpatient (LAP). I felt better immediately. Hugs, Becky

I had my gall bladder out 15 year previous to my wls but the attacks were very random in the beginning. I had no pain in my stomache it was all in my lower back. One day I could eat fine and the next day the smell of food would set me off. This went on for 3 months. The attacks became more frequent. I had actually gone to the gastro doc and was set up for upper/lower gi series the next day. I had started taking the dye tablets and ended up in the er around 2:00am. I had emergency surgery at 5:00 that afternoon. I had one stone but it had obstructed the bile duct. I was very lucky it had not exploded and sent the posion throughout my body. Marie
