insurance help

please someone help me i have blue cross blue shield ppo and starting 1-1-06 they no longer cover gastric bypass.How can I get around this is there any way?..

I hear that if it's excluded, than you haven't got a shot. Do you have it in writing?

I am on BCBS but of PA since it was my last employers choice and I am on Cobra so If I can do the 6 months diet deal and rush I may get it in by 12./31/06 my last day of this insurance. BCBS stopped doing this surgery 7/05. You can get an obesitylaw attorney to fight it I hear and I suspect the more co- mobidties you have ( high bp, diabetes, family history of heart disease, sleep0 apnea etc etc..the better) Appeal,s and appealos..if not look around for a private insurance that covers it and go on that for a while till you have the surgery. Once you have it BCBS/GA will cover any problems you have down the road- I spoke with them on the phone. Seems awful I know but the people who should not be having the surgery , have it and then gain their weight back are making insurance companies rethink the value of such an expensive procedure. good luck Edyth
