Finally updated!

Hi everyone! Merry Christmas! Hope you all are well! I finally updated my profile after all this time. I haven't been trying to be rude. I have just been in a weird mental state (more detail on my profile post). Has anyone else had a similar experience? I went from social butterfly to hermit for the past 8 months. I didn't feel sad or depressed exactly. I am now starting to come out of it and feel more like my old self.

Even though you didn't feel especially "sad," you probably WERE suffering from depression. It happens. A lot of people run into it after surgery because of the changes in hormones, etc. Realize that depression shows in many forms - it can just be not wanting to get up and go, wanting to sleep all the time, etc - not just feeling sad. I'm glad to hear you are "coming out of it." Keep an eye on it - if it doesn't clear up pretty soon, check with your PCP. You may need some meds on a temporary basis. I have done and still do the same thing, Christen. When I'm in a funk, I tend to isolate. It's a safety mechanism. If I'm not around others, I can't say something stupid or get my feelings hurt. Sometimes, I just like being alone...you can read a paper or book without interruption, watch tv without interruption, ignore the phone ring without anyone telling you it's ringing, etc. Glad you are coming out of it.
