I'm being laid off

I work for a general contractor, and while we had a great 1sty half year, we've had very little work the second half. Someone had to go, and there was me, and the girl who took my job (which was created) when I was promoted. he told me they chose me because I would have to be out of work in 8 weeks to have a baby, so it didnt make sense to let her go with all of my new responsibilities (read: she doesnt have kids) I was smart and recorded the entire conversation on my nextel, though. I'm going to keep it just incase, but he's offerring me a months severeance, and me and the husband decided it would be best for me to stay home anyways./ Its going to be tough, but we can do it.. we are refinancing our house from a 15 year to a 30 year, getting enough cash to pay off our 2 credit cards (saving us $400 a month), he can claim me and the baby on his W-4 and bring home an extra $400 a month, plus we've told his mother in law she will have to help pay some bills around here, because right now she only pays $30 a week for groceries.. After what I would pay in daycare ($600) plus $50 a week in gas, there really is no difference, except $100 a week that I put into savings each week.. and we can live without building that for a bit. When I go back to work when he's a few years old, we can add a few hundred to the mortgage, and it will STILL be paid off in 15 years.. Does your head hurt yet? of course, this is the plan, and it may not work like I hope. if I have to, I will find a child or two to watch, or work a couple of nights a week. I plan to go back to school at nights while he's little, or atleast take some online classes. So, my last day is the 30th, and while I'm getting excited about staying home, I'm really depressed about all of my hard career work going out the window. I'm afraid of putting strain on the husband, being totally dependant on him (even though I pay the bills and control the money, but I mean by him having to work) I feel like I'm going to lose myself and become one of those moms who spend the day walking around the mall because I have nothing else to do. There are 6 weeks between me being laid off and Jonas coming, so I'm going to try and do some temp work for extra cash, as I'll be recieving severeance, because I wont apply for unemployment until after baby comes. Sorry, I just neeed to get that all out. it just sucks coming at christmas, when baby is due, and while I'm having so many blood sugar issues.. I went for my gest. diabetes test, and my fasting sugar was 71, which was fine. My after eating sugar should have been HIGHER than my fasting, but below 140.. well it was 41!! So, I'm definately hypoglycemic. I was already eating every 2 hours, now they have me eating every hour, with lots of carbs. THATS going to wonders for my post-op brain. I had gained 9 lbs the whole pregnancy, and I jumped up to 24 lbs in 2 weeks time. Grr. Not WLS related, just an update for all the friends Ive made here in the past 2 years.

Things will work out for what is best for your family. Your little blessing will bring more joy than you can phathom. I will keep you in my prayers that things will work out for the best possible situation for your family. Don't worry about the gain - from what I understand you'll be able to pop back into the weight loss after you have the baby. You know what it takes to loose the weight and you have the tool to use!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Dee Dee

Kay, it's good to hear from you! Sounds like you and hubby have things worked out. At the beginning with Jonas, you are going to be BUSY!!! I really wish we could have budgeted for me to stay home when Drew was small, but our debt was too great...yes, I could make you faintv with the amount! If we don't sell our other house soon, we may be in the refinancing situation too. Big hugs to you and your sweet family! Love you! Becky

Kay, I would peruse that. That is HIGHLY illegal for them to do- and to say to you. Since you recorded that, and adding the fact that your pregnant you have them right where you need them. The best past, the EEOC, would persue this type of case which means no money out of pocket for you....Best of luck with the baby!
