I am having a real hard time getting down the protein powders. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get enough protein in? I am worried that I am going to make myself sick if I don't start getting in my protein.

I know how you feel. I'm right at 3 months out and the whey protein still makes me sick. I feel so nauseous when I drink it. I have been trying to get in a lot of protein from food. I have tried soy, and it is a bit better. If you find something that works better, let me know too. The Isopure that comes in the fruit flavors already mixed is a bit better.

Renee, I remember how hard it was for me at first too. Try the isopure chocolate powder and mix with water. I still just drink 6oz. at a time. Just make sure you are getting in all your water or you will get dehydrated really easy this early out and have to go back in the hospital. Trust me it will get easier. Good Luck & Take Care! Rachel

I drink a bottle of Precision Power fruit punch every day. It is the best way for me to get in my protein. I get it at Vitamin World. It comes in a plastic bottle...do not drink it out of the bottle or it will taste funny. But if you drink it out of a glass or cup, it is okay.

The nausea will eventually go away. I know it doesn't seem like it. The Isopore Chocolate drink is fabulous and you can make it with water or milk and add a little of you dried milk powder to help. Nibble of ow fat cheese as a snack. I know we are not supposed to graze but I couldn't find anyway around it at first. So I always had some kind of protein around to nibble on. Yogurt, cheese, carnation instant breakfast drink (no sugar) either the powder or the little snack drink already mixed up. I have also found that alot of the South Beach diet stuff is loaded with protein and their snack bars are yummy. Bu****ch the sugar! I am 7 months out and I still am having problems with the protein. I go to GNC for all my protein powder stuff. I did not like the Isopore fruit drinks though.

Hi Renee, I found that I could get down the ZonePerfect shakes better than anything. They are only 8 oz. and have 19 grams of Protein. Jana

Renee, you can buy samples from vitalady.com and bariatriceating.com That way you can try a few and see what you like. I do have a few samples (I THINK) left over and I can bring them by. When do you go back to work? The samples were like $1 or $2 a peice. I dont do protein drinks anymore, or I'd bring you some of what I use, too.

I'm still pre-op and I didn't care for Chocolate/Vanilla/Strawberry type protein drinks. I am a huge fan of the Nectar Brand of protein made by Syntrax. The Lemon Tea, Roadside Lemonade and Cherry Berry are my favorites. I mix them with 5-6 oz of water, and a pinch of lemon Crystal Lite.
