Georgia Secret pals! Share The Harvest!! I hope everyone received their secret pal via e mail!! Remember the theme For this month is Share The Harvest!! Also Thanksgiving is this month. You may want to drop your pal a treat around that time as well and let him or her know you are are thinking of them!! Fall is my favorite time of year, so much so that my youngest daughter's name is Autumn. There is just something special about this time of the year, the nip in the air makes you want to snuggle more with those you love! I grew up on my grandparent's farm and remember lots of canning and preserving from late summer to early Fall. There was nothing more fun than gathering corn, potatoes, beans, tomatoes, pears and apples etc. While most of these things came in during hot summer months and most of the time were preserved during that same time, when the air got chilly we always looked for Grandma's vegetable soup that had all those things that we grew in it. I hope this is something that I can pass on to my daughters. The joy of growing something delicious and turning it into something even more delicious! Just as my mama and grandmother did with that delicious vegetable soup I loved as a child. Fall to me is about closeness and appreciation. All of the things that a wonderful spring and bountiful summer produced can be enjoyed and appreciated. This isn't just about growing something in a garden. I think it is a time to look at what the year has brought forth in our lives and to reflect on the blessings that usually abound. So sharing the harvest isn't just about yummy vegetables or sweet preserves. To me it is about what you bring forth from your blessings and share with others. There is nothing more special on Thanksgiving than to look across the table and see a friend who is away from family or doesn't really have anyone spending Thanksgiving with your family. I hope I can always make a home for my family that brings forth the Harvest that is so abundant in my life all through the year, to whomever may enter. What does fall mean to you? Does it mean a trip to the apple houses in North Georgia? Do you have any memories of family events that only occur in fall? Do you preserve a garden? Go ahead Share the Harvest!! I cannot wait to hear your replies and once again thank you for participating in this. Happy Harvest, Lorie Brown
