Need a little help please?
Hi all. This is my first posting on the Georgia messageboard. I got my surgery date last Friday. It's on December 1st. However, last Monday ( I kid you not!) my husband came down on orders for recruiting duty and will be leaving for the training from November 1st to December 16th. I am so upset because I really wanted him here for the surgery. We also have an 18 month old son who's never been away from me for more than a few hours. I feel so crappy. It's taken seven months to get to this point and I really don't want to postpone the surgery any longer (plus I have to resubmit paperwork if the insurance approval expires -45days from approval). Our family lives four and a half hours from us and they all have jobs of their own. Plus our parents are not physically able to handle a full blown toddler running around the house even if they could take off of work. Army regulations say that he qualifies for a deferment of orders for 60 days while I'm having any "major surgery" but his commander rejected the deferrment. (In other words; his boss veto'd it). I honestly think we are being discriminated against because of the type of surgery that it is. I don't know what to do. I just want to sit and cry, but I'm honestly too exhausted to even do that. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I'd appreciate it.

Carol, I am so sorry this is happening to you. I know how frustrating it can be to finally get approval and then this! My advise is to talk to your husband to be sure he agrees but I would do what ever it take to go ahead and have the surgery. Do you have friends that could keep the baby? If it is just not possable Maybe you can talk to the insurance Co and explain it to them and see if they can just hold the approval untill he returns. I hope it works out for you. Keep us posted. Good luck and God Bless---George
Hi Carol,
Isn't it crazy the curve balls we get thrown. I think its really rotten your hubbys boss wouldn't give him the deferment.
I wish I had advice, I could keep your son
I have a 5 year old that would make a great 'big sister' for a few days. I wondered if anyone in the family could take a few vacation days to be with him. This has got to be so hard on you.
If there is seriously anything I can do please let me know.
I will remember you in my prayers that God will somehow let this happen for you.
Barb
