OK, I finally have a surgery date November 2nd! Now this is my dilemma I will be out of work for 3 weeks and a few of my friends are going to Columbia, SC for the SC/FL football game and want me to go with them. Obviously, I know no drinking or eating....lol I just want to hang with my friends. Now its only 10 days after my surgery. I heal very quickly and have had about 6 laparoscopic surgeries (endometriosis, appendix, gallbladder, etc.) now I know this surgery is much more intense obviously then those but do you think I could go away for a weekend? We will have a hotel room very close so if I get exhausted I can always veg at the hotel room. Please tell me what you guys think....I need to be realistic here don't hold back if I am being CRAZY!

Hey, Christine! First of, congrats on your surgery date.....Big step... Second...I don't think you will be able to make that judgement until after YOU have your surgery....I went Overnight camping 3 weeks after my surgery and I went back to full-time work 10 days after without any problems whatsoever.....on the other hand the fact that you you had all that laparoscopic surgeries before, although it gave you a feel for how good a healer you are, it also means your surgeon may have some scar tissue to deal with (hopefully minimal since these all were laps). I'd say wait until you are out of surgery before you make any commitments (is they have to be in stone ), but the arrengements can be flexible... why not? In any case best of luck to you, Rita

Hi, Christine, My main concern with being ten days out is the "travel" part. I had planned to attend a wedding at the same stage, but for me, one hour and a half at a time was about my limit for the first few weeks. At six weeks, I did great on a long road trip. It truly is a judgment call. BTW, my RNY LAP was less painful than my gallbladder surgery (LAP also). Best wishes with whatever you decide! Hugs, Becky

HOOORAY on the date!!!!!!!!! Congrats! I know you are excited! I agree with Rita and Becky...it's gonna have to be wait & see. Some folks do wonderfully and others are too exhausted.... I HOPE you get to go, but if you do, be careful jumping around and gettin' crazy when your team is WINNING!! I wish you all the best, and I'm so happy for you on getting your date! Tami
