Okay you guys, I just do not understand this one. I had blood work done when I was 3 weeks post op and my liver enzymes were just elevated by one point and Shannon (at Dr. D's office) decided it must be from all the anitbiotic they give us during surgery and it will clear up. Went to see my Internist on Monday she did blood work to ck that it is back to normal and it is not up to 56 from 41!!! she ask me if I was drinking!!! I never drink and certainly do not now! I drink only water and eat not very much and mostly protein. Before surgery all my blood work was always perfect only low iron levels from time to time. Has anyone else had this problem. Internist ordering more tests - boy my insurance company is going to hate me! je

Judy, Do you still haave your gall bladder? Raised liver enzymes was my first sign that my gall bladder was diseased.

yes I do still have my gallbladder but have never had any symptoms or any problems before. Is there a way to repair it? je

Only thing I have ever heard being done to 'fix' a gall bladder is to remove it. Try eating a low fat diet too. Loads of people have gall bladder issues after they have WLS. Seems rapid weight loss triggers it. I'm sure raised enzymes could mean lots of things but I just wanted to let you know my experience. I didn't have stones but my GB was diseased. I let it go until I had an attack that took me to the ER and that was no fun! And this happened when I lost 50 pounds on one of my many diets. Glad to hear they are checking you out!

Judy , I had surgery March 31, 2004 and on Dec. 29, 2004 I had to go to the hospital with horrible pain in my stomach and after 2 days of test they never did find out what was wrong. ( I had my gallblbladder out before I had WLS.) My liver enzimes were elevated for about 6 months. I'm fine now . I hope everything is okay with you now. Judy

Thanks Judy, I hope all is fine too, still waiting to see what other tests my Dr. will run. But if you levels were elevated for 6 mos and you are fine that is ecouraging. I just have to wonder if it is the vitamins I am taking or something like that. Thanks for the feedback. je
