Whoa! Got my surgery statement!
When I checked the mail today, I got a statement from AMC. My surgery and everything cost a whopping $43,328.31. I was completely floored! For some reason I was thinking the cost was around $20G. Thank the good Lord we have wonderful insurance! My husband called as I opened it up. I told him it cost $43 G's and he freaked out. He thought I was telling him we had to pay that, lol After I finally got him calmed down, told him it was just the statement, insurance was going to cover it, lol His whole personality changed, lol He got a little chuckle out of it!
Just thought I would share!

I am so glad you got through! Since you are getting short on time, when they schedule your complications class, ask them to schedule your pre-op appointment the same day. It will help speed up the process and will cut out one extra trip to Atlanta. I know they will do it if they have the spots open. If there is anything you need, please let me know!
Hugs!
Hi Kim! First of all, congrats on your surgery!!!!
I am doing much better.. I feel pretty much normal energy wise which I am thankful since its only been a month. My weight loss picked up last week....then stopped as fast as it started! THANK GOODNESSS!! I guess I will loose in spurts?
I am having the hardest time with protien ( meat ) ... which has been a challange..and I am working hard on being a good vitamin girl! I go for my one month tomorrow...so we shall see!
I am sure when I drop another 20 lbs, I will be estatic!
How are you?
Hugs to you !
Michelle

Congrats on your weightloss! I lost 22 in my 1st 2 weeks. I started eating some meats and they seem to knock me out for about an hour, lol. I am working on getting my protein in. Its hard. Everything I eat taste so different now. Everything is either too sweet or taste like metal. I am hoping that will change soon.
Take care!
Kimberly,
Just to let you know that the 20K figure is that this is the price for self-pay patients. Actually, mine was 23.5K. When you use a preferred provider of the insurance involved, there is some discounting that is done. A few years ago, I had my bladder tact up, the total fees were 19K, but with the discounting insurance paid out approx. 11-13K (can't remember the exact amount). So, bottom line, I bet that insurance is not going to pay out all of 43.3K for your surgery. This is why, there is such a difference in $$ of the self-pay patient and the insurance patient.
