Atlanta Bound

Hey there Georgia Board.... I just was offered and accepted a position in the Atlanta area and will be moving within the month.....wondered if you all could help me out.... 1) Surgeon to help me take care of post op...what do you think about Dr. Champion? 2) Support Group...any great support groups in the NW part of Atlanta 3) Living...I am looking to move to NW part....what does anyone think of Smyrna and Vinings...or should I do Marietta or Kennesaw? I am single, wanting house that is new, good safe community.... Can't wait to meet you all....take care and thanks for your help! Ann

Hello Ann: Welcome to GA and the GA board people are great. First of all Dr. Champion is supposed to be the best but I used Dr. Macik. Smyrna is the great also since I live there. I have lived in Smyrna since 1993 when I bought my townhome in this complex that has about 60 units. There is about 3 for sale and one is a corner unit which has had extensive work done to it. This unit is done very well with updated cabinets in kitchen, large corner lot, fenced in backyard, hard wood floors thourghout and updated bathrooms all 2 1/2. Most of the work was done by the previous owner and she only lived in the townhome for about 3 years. All the people who have live in the home has gotten married and moved to larger homes to start a family. You will love it there since it close access to 75 and 285. You are about 2 miles from each. If you go to Kennesaw you will fight the traffic 75 north going home. I don't know exactly where you will be working but if your interested in Smyrna, you need to come on a weekend and check this place out. Send me an e-mail and I will give you my phone number and can assist you in some of the surroundings of Smyrna or Vinings since we are so close. Smyrna has grown immensely since I have purchased my place in 1993. Very good appreciation on the property and there are some plans in the future for Smyrna. Good luck Mary

Thank you so much Sweet Mary....I would love to know more about Smyrna and Vinings...work is very close to there and I like to live close to work....I am actually looking for something a little bigger than a townhouse.....are there nicer parts of Smyrna that I should look at...I will email you separately too.....I may be there in a few weeks to do a house hunting trip.....would love your opinion and advice.... Hello fellow Texan - we have been in GA for 8 years now and we love it! Would be perfect place to live if our family was not all in Texas! We hail from the Kerrville area and I am sure you know just where that is. I do not know anything about Dr. Champion but I bet he is really good. I know there are alot of jobs in the NW part of Atlanta but I am not sure about the housing, I live SE of the city. I am only a Texas resident for 4 years so I am not a true Texan but sure do love it here and will miss the place and the people....wow! Welcome to Georgia! You could not ask for better in a surgeon than Dr. Champion. I'm not just saying that because he did my surgery but because I put a lot of time and effort in to researching surgeons. Having a long medical background, I was more than a little picky. He can be dry and very direct but he has the best track record around. I've lived in the Smyrna/Vinings area for the last 15 years. I've been in Vinings for about 3 years and love it. It is a charming little nook in Cobb County. Lots of great resturants and shops. If you are looking to buy, things can be a bit pricey but renting is reasonable in the area. The community is a little more upscale from some of the areas so you always see people out walking and jogging around the streets. If you would like any more information just email me. denise

DENISE.... We are surgery sisters!!!! WOOOO HOOOOO..... Thanks for the great info on Dr Champion...my current surgeon suggested him...so I will definitely take your vote into consideration..... Also, the information on Smyrna/Vinings is great...I really want to live close to work and find a great community...when you talk about pricey...what do you mean? I am looking to buy not rent but don't want to spend tooo toooo much..... I will keep in touch....would love your advice....thanks so much! Ann
