Nausea

Hi, everyone. I just wanted to know if anyone remembers getting nauseous when they got "hungry"? I say "hungry" because it isn't the same hunger as before, but I can tell I'm empty. Does that make sense? I had reflux pretty severly prior to surgery, and I'm wondering if some pepcid or something would help with this. I'm definitely going to talk to the Doctor about it on Wednesday (My 2 week post-op appt). The nausea passes, but it isn't any fun. I usually wake up every morning feeling nauseous, and I know I'm not supposed to have these yet, but crackers help a lot. I can only eat like one or two. Water with a little bit of lemon helps too. Another thing that is weird is tha****er has to be ice cold...I mean almost frozen. Room temperature is yucky. This is so weird! I'm having a hard time with vitamins and protein because I'm feeling nauseous. Everything stays down, but as soon as I swallow the vitamins or certain protein drinks, they instantly feel like they are going to come back up. So far they haven't, so that is a good sign. Thanks to everyone for listening and for support...you guys are great!!!!

ohhhh Stephanie, I'm 3 months out, you are describing my daily life. And a few crackers settle my stomach too. And it makes me mad, cuz I know carbs are a no no. Shree told me to put bottles of water in the freezer then take them out and drink as it melts. I have to have my water this way. I know all docs are different but my doc said the first 3 months are for getting the pouch use to having food. What settles your tummy is what works for right now but it will get better. I promise. I didn't even worry about protein or vitamins for the first few weeks. (looking around quiltily) All my labs have been fine. And I still get my protein in with food and dairy, no protein drinks. Remember... one day at a time. And be sure to keep hydrated, most important right now. Email me if you ever need to talk and we'll get on the phone. Barb

Thank you, Barb. I just cry because this is so frustrating. I am doing that with the water...thanks to Shree's advice. She is so sweet.

I had nausea for about 5 straight weeks postop then it all went away. I know it really sucks feeling like that (and frustrating too). Hopefully between crackers and just plain old time you will get better. (hugs) Kia 5'9" 284/187/155

Hi Stephanie, We have all experienced nausea from time to time, it'll get better as time goes by. I'm 11 months out and still get nausea sometimes. Mostly because I ate too much or ate too fast. For the most part I'm not hungry at all, but I do find myself always thinking of snacking which is all in my head. When or if I get snacky, I make sure I snack on fruit. Sometimes I find myself looking in the refrigrator and thinking I'm hungry even though I'm not. The only thing I'm having to learn is am I actually hungry or is my mind saying I'm hungry! I'm not too worried though I know I have been doing something right for I am now down from size 26-28 to size 8, 310lb to 159 lbs. Hang in there it does get better as time goes. Remember your body has to take time to heal from the inside to the outside. Take care, stay in touch. LV ki
