Hey y'all I've been having pain under my left rib cage for 4 days now. After doing some research I came across some info on Pancriatitis. Has anyone had anything similar? I'm wondering if this is a wait til tuesday kinda thing or page the doc kinda thing. I called his office yesterday but his staff sux and I never got a call back. Thanks for any info. Barb

Gosh - I wish I could give you some information. I know when I was having Gall bladder trouble it was under my right rib cage. Let me know what the doctor says! Dee Dee

Hi Dee Dee, I think the 'wondering what it could be' is worse than the pain right now... Make sense? I'm gonna try and hold out till after the weekend... why do things happen on longggg weekends? Thanks for writing.. you're a doll! Love, Barb

Hey Barb... If it is truely pancreatitis, it would not be a wait kind of thing. You could always call the doctor, and if the pain is bad enough, even go to the ER if you can't reach your doctor. But either way, testing would need to be done to check to see what the pain is caused by. There should be a doc on call thru your surgeons office that should call you back, and it may be easier to get the on call doc, than your own doc thru the surgeons office. I would suspect it might be gallblader pain that is diverting to the left side, or maybe even some muscle pain from the surgeyr itself, as sometimes that can come back and bite you months later after surgery. Anyway, I hope you feel better very soon. Hugs, Susan

Hey Susan, Thanks for the well wishes. One thing I am pretty sure of its not my GB... unless it grew back from 8 years ago I was wondering if it could be muscular. I didn't know that it can come back but I did wonder about that. Just hate to call the doc if its not an emergency... and I have pain but its not horrible.... if only that dang office had relayed my message! I did read that pancreatitis is serious but does not neccesarily cause horrible pain. ~I'm so confused~ Thank you so much for replying! I appreciate you so much! love, Barb

Barb, I wish you would call. The doc will help determine whether or not you should go to the ER. I always hate to call too, but it ALWAYS ends up being a good idea. Hugs, Becky

Barb You may have a little touch of gasrtitis with the pain. If you try Pepcid AC for a day it should help if it is gastritis. If this is truly pancreatitis, do not let it go until Tuesday. You can become very ill in a very short period of time if you have pancreatitis. You should go to the Emergency Room and have a couple of simple blood tests that can rule pancreatitis out or in as the case may be. Carolyn
