It's normal to feel this way. You'll go through a "blues" feeling as your body adjusts to not having all the "comfort" foods you've had and your body going through the adjustment of having had the surgery. Give it a few weeks - if it's not feeling better then talk to your doctor about it and maybe he can suggest things you can do to help. I will tell you that exercise (walking as a fresh post op) will help to release endorphones in your system that will help you shake the "blues" feeling. Congrats!!! Good luck to ya!! Dee Dee

Hi, Bridgette, My doctors warned me about the strong possibility. In fact, one doctor put me on a low dosage of antidepressant prior to surgery because she expected it with my history. Her mom had the surgery and went through a bout too. I agree that exercise is the best way to combat it, but if you don't feel better soon, you may want to talk to your doc about something short term. I grieved a bit over the lose of food as comfort. I think it's pretty normal. It awesome that you feel great! Hugs, Becky

Hi! Depression! We all have experienced depression from one time or another. When you start feeling blue try to find someway to take your mind off that feeling i.e., reading a book, watching a funning TV show, go for a walk, exercise or just email me at [email protected], I'll find ways to get you to smile & not be depressed. If that does not work maybe it'll help if you just talk to someone or one of us wls members here. Talking helps you look at whatever is making you feel down see it in a new light & how you can come up with better ways to deal those issues. Life is too short & wonderful to start worrying about all the ifs, buts, could haves, would haves, should haves, etc. You have completed the hardest part of this wonderful journey which was getting approved. Now time is on your side & you're one of us on the losing side! Smile & know you are loved; your life is gonna change for the better. Just remember life is like a roller coaster & everyone experiences ups & downs from time to time. Look at where you have been, where you are right now & where you will be in 6 months. You will not recognize yourself. I have gone from a size 310lbs to 159 lbs down from a size 26/28 to a size 8 and have lost a total of 157lbs since I started this journey & when I look in the mirror I'm amazed. So my dear wls friend "Welcome with open arms & love" we are here to help you as others have helped each other. This journey is not easy, but it is so worth the outcome. Take care & God Bless!

It is very "normal" I mourned the loss of the "old" me and what I could no longer eat or drink, however, this too passes and the better I felt the more the blues went away. If you continue to battle with it though talk to your doctor there are some medications that we can take and it does help.... Hugs and prayers, Theresa
