I'VE BEEN GIVEN THE RUN AROUND ALL WEEK BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW THE RIGHT PROCEDURE. NOW THEY HAVE ME CALLING RED CROSS AND I CAN'T GET THREW.......... I HAVE TO GET IT DONE THIS WEEK.....
Deborah,
Yes, You need to call the Red Cross to set up an appt. to have the blood taken. I did this many years ago (1984), for when I was having a breast reduction, and the AIDS scare was just starting. I do know that Red Cross has several locations in Atlanta. You might want to try calling the various locations to trying to get an appt. made. I do remember that I had to take iron pills before the blood was taken to boost my iron, and also after the blood was taken to make sure that I did not become anemic. I can not recall the official name of the procedure to help you along in talking with Red Cross. Hope that this info helps.
