Deborah, Yes, You need to call the Red Cross to set up an appt. to have the blood taken. I did this many years ago (1984), for when I was having a breast reduction, and the AIDS scare was just starting. I do know that Red Cross has several locations in Atlanta. You might want to try calling the various locations to trying to get an appt. made. I do remember that I had to take iron pills before the blood was taken to boost my iron, and also after the blood was taken to make sure that I did not become anemic. I can not recall the official name of the procedure to help you along in talking with Red Cross. Hope that this info helps. Norma

You need to let them know at Red Cross that you want to donate AUTOGOLOUS BLOOD, meaning to donate blood for your own use if needed during surgery. Hope this helps... Susan
