Was your hospital out of network?
I am wondering if there is anyone that chose a hospital that was out of network... My insurance only covers the two dumpy hospitals and I was the nice one that has a bariatric unit and great aftercare. I am wondering what costs look like for out of network surgery w/ an in network surgeon. Has anyone gone through this?

I would love to have my surgery at Emory Dunwoody! My insurance only covers North Fulton, which I was taken to after a car accident and the treatment was awful, the other is Northside Atlanta which got really bad reviews here. I was hoping to find out from someone if insurance may cover partially for hospitals that are out of network. I guess I will be digging through my coverage booklet tonight! I was hoping to get info from someone who experience it... Or maybe from someone who had a good experience at North Fulton or Northside? If someone liked there treatment, maybe their is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Call your insurance company and ask about out of network hospital benefits. They should be able to tell you what percentage your insurance will cover. Many times the amount will be reduced to about 40 to 60% of allowable costs. That means a larger copay out of pocket for you. The other scenario is that your insurance may be like mine and not pay at all for an out of network facility if the service is non emergent and is covered by an in network facility within a reasonable distance from your home. Hope this helps.
