Family needing prayer...

At the school where I work, we have a family whose house burned down last Thursday. The daughter that goes to our school was home with her dad (who works nights and was sound asleep) when their toaster caught fire and quickly engulfed the kitchen then the house. She got her dad up and out of the house, mom was picking up little brother at after-school, and now they have NOTHING-and I literally mean NOTHING. The clothes on their back and that's IT. Now the good news: our student council is buying all the school supplies for the girl (brother had his with him since he was still at school), our FCCLA (similar to old FHA) has bought all of her school clothes. We have a teacher that is bringing a bag full of clothing for mom & the elementary school where brother attends is buying all his school clothes. Several faculty members are donating household items for when they get a place to live (right now the insurance company has them in a hotel). We also had a concerned mom who went out and bought dad a pair of shoes because when he left the burning house, he went out barefooted. We've also been able to give them a little money to buy things they need and our student council is going to have a "jeans day" where students pay $1 to wear jeans and all money will be donated to the family. We have such a great school and community!! My main prayer/request is this - dad is a bigger guy and can be hard to fit. He wears 4x shirts and 44-46x34 pants. If anyone knows where I can find this size clothing, or can donate some, e-mail me please. I've already checked the clothing exchange and requested what I could from there, but most everything there is for women. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks for your continued prayers and support! My husband might have some 4x shirts I can give you. Where is Lula? Is it close to me in McDonough? I could meet you somewhere with the shirts. He doesn't have many since he is still wearing them. And, he is just now in 44-46 pants. I'll have some soon as he continues to lose weight. Let me talk to him and see what he thinks, but I know we can come up with something for him.

I'm not close to you, but I appreciate it. I'm actually up around Gainesville. Thanks for the offer, though! Amanda

Hi Amanda, I am so sorry to hear of the situation. I assume this is in Madison County. I have some contact numbers for you, they may not be able to help much but she may have some numbers for you to contact of someone who can. Also contact the churches in the area, let them know whats going on, we had a similar situation here in franklin co and i would say local churches helped more than 60% on getting needed items for the family. American Red Cross, talk to Christy, #706-353-1645, this is in Athens.

We're actually in Hall County, but I am not that far from Athens (about 30 minutes) - I'll try to contact Red Cross - I'm sure they are going to be swamped right now after all the bad weather last night! Thanks! Amanda
