I went today and did my PS consult only to find out that I'm probably NOT going to be approved. They said my insurance is getting harsher on who they allow and I don't meet half the qualifications. 1) had to be AT LEAST 18 months PO 2) had to have lost at least 100 lbs (no problem) 3) excess had to hang at or below the pubic area (No problem) 4) had to have maintained the same weight for at least 6 months 5) had to have rashes/chaffing documented for basically three consecutive months. Well I'm 15 months out but haven't stopped loosing weight. (I had my Gall Bladder out in june and dropped 25 since then...) and I've not had any rash/chaffing issues. Why dosen't insurance companies set standards that plastic surgeons can use as a guideline when a paitent comes in (or even calls in for that matter) so they'll know what they're up against. They were going to submit my insurance anyway - but gosh right now I'm frustrated! It was funny though when they took the "pictures" they give you a string with a piece of paper attached so that you can "cover up the necessities"......I thought it was funny when the girl takes the pictures (digital) the pressed the button and then looked away when it flashed....made me think "geez.....she's just wanting this to be over with!!!.......ME TOO!!!!!!" Oh well - another lesson learned....that and I learn I'll never be able to affor any surgeries that Insurance dosen't cover.....I need a damn sugar daddy!!!!

Girl, Don't give up hope! If they deny you just try again. You are soooo derserving of PS. I would really be thrilled for you to get approved. I know that would complete your journey. I can't think of any one else, that I personally know that has been as dedicated as you have to your excercise routine. I am so proud of you for that! I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed and keep you in my prayers! Chin up! Tonya

Thank you for the prayers - I can use all I can get lately!!!! ya! Dee Dee

How do I get a rash? I catch every stinking bug known to man (getting over pink eye now). Surely, I can get a rash. Thanks for sharing. I had no idea about all of the requirements. Who did you see? Did you like the doc? You know, Dee Dee, I think you will get that surgery. You deserve it! I know the Lord delights in you. Thank you for being an encourager and inspiration to all of us. Love ya' Becky

I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes.....thank you so much for you encouraging words.... I saw Dr Ashraf at Northside and she was FANTASTIC!!! I'm glad she was really honest with me about the troubles they're having with my insurance. It at least gives me the heads up with the possibilities of what's down the road.

Dee Dee, One of the ladies in my Doctor's support group told me the following: That when she went to get pre-approval for ps, that her insurance automatically denies all requests. But, then you will have to apply for an appeal, and that you have six months to get all the documentation in to support your request for ps. Just thought that I would pass this info along to you. Dee Dee, do you still have BCBS? I have them too and didn't realize I'd have to provide proof of a rash for 3 consecutive months. I mean, I have peeling skin under the tummy, but who wants to go flash that at doctor for 3 months straight? Kelle

The reason for "three months" is basically to show that you're not able to heal it with out the surgery to remove the skin and keep it from rubbing together. I loved the doctor....she was fantastic.....and if I had the money right now I'd use her....but WITH insurance approval if I got the TT and a breast lift/augment it's be $8000 out of pocket!!!! UGH!!! (It's $14,000 without insurance) Get the proof so you don't have to worry about that! Dee Dee
