I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst a week ago will it hurt constant or can the pain come and go, also will I know it if it bust? Melissa

Everyone is different with the cysts, sometimes it is a constant pain, sometimes it comes and goes...but when it ruptures...most of the time you will know...You will hurt extremely bad and have nausea and sometimes diarrhea. The reason you hurt worse is becasue the contents of the cyst, usually blood or fluid empties into the abdominal cavity where this is usually not any thing like that. It causes pain. Good luck and usually birthcontrol pills or hormones will reduce it without it bursting. D'Lynn

Thanks D'Lynn, the Gyno office actually told me that if it still persist let them know and they might have to remove it surgically. I thought I have had cyst before, but not sure now because from the age of 16 to 21, I was diagnosed for cyst all the time, and it would up being my appendix. Melissa

I have Polycystic Ovarian Disease. I found out because my husband (at that time) and I wanted to start a family and were having trouble. I have gone as long as three years without a cycle. My ovaries look like grapes......lol. I have had a bout with a Cyst that burst and it was painful. It burst during my 8th week of pregnancy. I had surgery because the doctors thought I had a tubule pregnancy. They got inside and found one of my Cysts burst. Thank goodness my pregnancy did not terminate. Long story short, I have pain that comes during ovulation sometimes it is bad and other times I can deal. I was told by the doctors to make sure I have regular exams. Two of my aunts and my grandmother had this same disease. My grandmother eventually died from ovarian cancer back in the early 60s when doctors knew so little. I hope my two cents helps.

I had one about 10 years ago, I was in so much pain the Dr. couldn't find out what was wrong so he went in & did exploratory surgery & found it, it almost reptured. Good luck. Tammy Gunter

I never had any pain with mine. It was found by accident as I was having a ct scan for possible kidney stones. Had surgery with umbilical hernia repair with mesh insert 1 month later. Marie
