Do most people who have had WLS cut their hair short?

I notice that on many of the posts most of the folks have short hair. It looks great on them, but I just wondered if anyone has been able to maintain mid-length to long hair after having WLS? I have had mid-length hair for several years, and would like to hear your input on this subject. Thanks so much. Sincerely, LMW

For as long as I could remember, I wanted to have really short hair, think a 'la Demi Moore in Ghost. I could never wear it because my face was just too round. When I started to lose my hair around month 3-4,I decided to go for it, and kept it that way for 2 years. Now I am in the middle of the painstaking process of growing it out.Actuaslly I just got it cut yesterday to a pretty short bob, but at least it's all one length! I know that there are people here, who have kept their same stlye, if and when you start to lose your hair, you decide! For me personally, I just couldn't stand all the hair everywhere, in the kitchen, bathroom, shower, living room, food, in my kids bed,ect... Good Luck, Cathy

I kept mine fairly long up until about 3 weeks ago. As mine started to fall out , it started looking stragly, and like the cat sucked on it, so off to the hair dresser I went. It took me getting it cut twice and highlights for it to begin to look better. My hair was sooo thin to begin with, that it didn't take much falling out for me to decide it was time to go back short. Once my hair grows back in, I will probably go back longer again. Thank goodness this hair falling out is only temporary!!! Susan

I had mine cut short last weekend because it was coming out on top and when it was long the part was too defined. Now I can kind of poof it up to try and hide the balding. Noone else noticed it but me....or so they said . For me it was a self conscience thing.

Hair loss has not been an issue for me though I keep thinking it will be. My hair dresser, Karen, had the surgery to, and she says my hair has stayed the same...wish my skin had. LOL Karen does whatever she wants to my hair...she saved me from the old-timey perms a few years back. We're pals so she sees it on good days and bad. I have my hair colored every month...don't know if that makes a difference or not...probably not. Karen has mid-length hair, and it still looks good. She's 15 month post op. Tami, Laura, Ginger, Shyra, and Dee Dee have mid-length and longer hair, and they look great. I think every one is different. If it does get thinner, it usually grows back even better from what I've heard. Hugs, Becky

Everyone. thank you so much for the input. I will face it, if it happens. It is nice to know that it grows back. It sounds like this is part of the process for most people, but it resolves itself eventually. It just has always taken so long for my hair to grow period.

Hello lm w I don't know if being black make a difference or not but I have very long hair and had wls over 4 years ago and I didn't lose any hair. I think the protein is the key. Make sure you get your protein in. JS
