Thank you for your response. It is nice to know I am considered normal with no appetite. You are right, there is weight to lose. As hard as I have tried, I just can't eat 5 small meals. The appetite is just not there. I will just try and do the best that I can do. I hope I have a small amount of my appetite to return. It is so hard to eat anything right now. I feel weak and tired much of the time. I am trying to walk some though. I know many people advise that to feel better. Thanks again.

Hi, I am 11 weeks post-op and some days the SMELL of food makes me sick to my stomach. Here are my tricks *these are only things I do personally that helps and by no means have been endorsed by a doctor or a nutrionist* Ok, I swear by the squeeze cheese in the can (5g protein) on wheatthin crackers. I have a whole box and can in my desk at work for the hungrys. Wendy's Baked potatoes and chili (with the chili I ask them to get mostly juice and then I add crumbled up saltines) Sunflower Seeds (protein but make sure you chew well and don't eat a shell) Unjury Vanilla Protein Shake (thanks Carol) Peanut Butter Watermelon Campbell's Soup at Hand (the chicken noodles has teeny tiny round noodles that go down SO well) Cheese sticks or cubes (chew well) Dried Beef in the jar (chew well) Everything is so hit and miss...somedays I do chicken fine and other days I don't. Haven't been able to eat tuna since the surgery *sigh*. Also, I have become lactose intolerant so I have to be careful with milk (cheese does fine~ go figure). Planet Smoothie has some high protein drinks if you can drink them...personally I don't like the TWANG (yes, I am from Georgia) of smoothies though. I am just doing the best I can to get some protein without stressing over it.... As far as water goes....I freeze all of my bottled water and drink it as it melts..that way it stays ice cold and it keeps you from gulping too fast. I drink about 3 or 4 20 ozs a day that way. Actually, I crave water that way now. My advice is to go slow...don't try to stress over it and take your time trying new foods. It DOES get better each week!!! Best of luck, Shree

Shree, I can't wait until I can try your ideas with food. I have heard others talk about the cheese, crackers, and dried beef. I definitely appreciate the tips. I guess I can't get past the pureed food stage in my mind. I keep thinking that I will always have to eat this way--everything in liquid form. I am going to believe that it is going to get better each week--too many people have this same testimony. I will go slow and try not to stress. Thank you for your encouragement! God bless you. LMW
