Hi Beth, Good luck and here's wishing you a speedy recovery. My mother has a greenfeldt filter. She had some blood clots, was put on blood thinners (coumadin) and then had a problem with a bleeding ulcer. Doctors took her off the blood thinners and instead gave her the filter (which catches clots if they should break away and travel up the body) I'm sure every case is different, but that is what I know about it in her case, although she is not a wls patient. Hope this helps.

Beth, Best of Luck for a safe and speedy recovery. May there be no complications and you do very well, you are in my prayers. What is the greenfield filter, never heard of it? Hugs, Melissa

Melissa ,thank you for your support. The greenfield filter is a thing will prevent blood clots from staying formed. It breaks them up before they can form and go to the lungs or worse the brain. I got very sick after i had my last son and I had a pulmonary embolisim . That went up into my lungs I could not breath and was very sick. So since that happenend they have to place one in me.....Beth
