I have a 6 yr old daughter that was diagnosed last August with ADHD and has done very well on medication (Metadate CD****il this past week. She is fine as long as she is getting her way, but as soon as you tell her NO, or tell her to do something she gets outa control, screaming, crying, saying NO etc. My dad seems to think it's a case of her just being spolied and not getting her way, but we have done nothing differently in the past week than before to set off this behavior. I have read up on ODD and wonder if that may be whats going on, as she does have 8 of the 9 characteristics, is this possible that may be what it is?

I also posted this on th Main Board.... Hi Melissa.... I am becoming quite the Pro at this stuff, having 2 kids with ADHD, Bi-Polar, and Intermittant Rage Outburst Disorder, and ODD... While there may be a good chance of having ODD (because of having 8 of the 9 characteristics) there could also be something else going on. With all that is going on with you as a pre-op, it could just be something related to that. I knew of all of my kids issues long before I ever started the process of my WLS, but I am finding that they have had a few issues with it themselves, and all along I thought they were handling it great. My suggestion would be to call your daughters Dr, throw out your concerns to the Dr and see what the Dr says... If you feel like it can't wait until the next appt, of course. I know for a couple of months before school got out I was on the phone with my kids Dr several times a week. Thats what they are there for. The Dr is the only one for sure who can either confirm or Deny any new diagnosis. I can surely understand where you are, and all the frustrations that come along with it... good luck to you!!! Hi, Melissa, If I were in your situation, first, I would call the doctor's office, and explain the new behaviors. I have a feeling they will want to get your daughter in for an appointment soon. You may also want to ask whether or not to continue the present medication until the visit. The medication or dosage may need to be adjusted. Could your daughter be suffering from allergies or a bug? Some of my kindergartners definitely exhibit the same behaviors when they are not feeling well. We just climb the walls together. While you are at the doctor's office, mention the concerns about ODD, etc. If the doctor is a psychiatrist, he/she may think it is a good idea for your daughter to have a check up. Couldn't hurt! I have to write down my questions or concerns, or I go blank. I am thankful that your sweetie has a mother who is pro-active. Don't worry. She's in good hands! Sincerely, Becky

Thank you Becky, I called her Dr. today and they are going to up her meds. starting tomorrow from 10mg to 20mg of the metadate CD to see if that helps. He told me that in alot of cases the child becomes immune to the previous dosage and needs to be upped. They also scheduled her for a yr. evaluation for Sept 6th as well. The nurse told me it was law that they have to be re evaluated every year, I didn't know that, but then again all this is new to me as well. hugs, Melissa
