A few questions . . .
I spent the day at Emory last week and now have my EGD scheduled for next week. I visit the surgeon the next week and should get a surgery date at that time. The visit with the dietician was quite interesting. My weight has stayed the same since my last visit with her. She reviewed my food diary and was very surprised at the low number of calories I consume each day - especially since my weight has stayed the same.
In any case, I'm worried that my surgery date will be postponed if I haven't lost 10 lbs. Like, I'm very worried. I am exercising every day and am really being very strict with my diet.
Can anyone speak to having a surgery date postponed? I seem to remember the doctor having said that if you gain weight, the date is definitely postponed. Or was that if you don't lose 10 lbs, the surgery date is definitely postponed? Help!!!
Also - how long do most people stay out of work?
FFF:
I had my surgery at Emory with Dr. Smith and he had asked that I lose 25lbs before surgery. I dieted and struggled, met with the dietician, but I could only seem to lose about 17lbs. I was so afraid they would not schedule my surgery, but they went ahead and scheduled it and I was so relieved, but I was told I was not to gain ANY weight. I think I lost another 3lbs before surgery. I am sure each doctor is different and they have their own rules, even different docs at Emory.
I was out of work for 3 weeks, but I probably could have gone back after 2, but I didnt want to pu**** I wanted to take care of me and make sure I did everything right.
Good luck to you and if you have any questions about Emory, I would be happy to answer what I know.
