Before surgery, I had Diabetes, High BP, High Cholesterol, Apnea, Depression, etc. When I would go to my doc's office for my Diabetic checkups, I would have to go through the same crap every time. I'd go and have to weigh, but the scale stopped at 350, so they'd have to find the 'extender' weight, every time they'd have to re-figure out how to use it, then they'd weight me at 430 or 440 or whatever. I'd lose a few, then I'd gain a few... every 3 months I'd go through this. When I was pre-op, I'd weigh 411 at the surgeon's electronic scale, I'd weigh 418 at home and the doc's office would say 422. So I just flat didn't know what to believe my weight was. It was disheartening at best. Well, I weighed at home at 338 this morning. I weighed at the doc's office 337 and at the gym, I weighed 337.5!!! I am so darned happy I could just puke!!!! Anyhoo... I got my B12 shot and am feeling good about that as well. I just took a headshot of me and compared it to a year ago and was pretty happy with the change so far. Now, if I could just recover from this damned FISSURERECTOMY... that's a pain in the er.... well you get my point.

Way to go Derrick, I've been wondering how you were doing. My goodness... you're doing great!! CONGRATULATIONS! ummm, I hadn't heard about the fissurectomy, but if its what I think it is I think I might have the same problem. My hiney hurts!! Oh, this might be too darn personal but at least I've only got my monitor staring back at me! What are you doing by the way of vitamins? I'm 3 weeks out and have not started any yet. I could never weigh at home because my scale only went to 300. But I'm using that thing now, about 3 times a day in fact weighing in at 293. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration! Barb

Vitamins... I have been doing Flintstone Chewables, 2 to 4 a day (depending on when I remember) and chewable Calcium (the bad kind... I'm not ready to start taking those giant Calcium Citrate pills... the chewable Calcium Carbonate will have to do for now). I'm a boy, so the iron isn't that big of a deal for me (plus I can eat meat, which adds some iron to my diet anyway). I talked to my PCP and he has given me 3 years prescription for B12 injections... he says that B12 pills and sublingual B12 isn't as effective as the shot, so the shot it is. I feel so good after my B12 injection... it's just not funny. At 3 weeks, you'll probably get one at your next Post-Op appointment (if you don't, I'd insist on one.

Congratulations on your weight loss! And what is a fissurectomy? I know ectomy is removal of something - I am assuming it has something to do with your hiney? lol. Kia 284/211/155 ish

Yes I did pass the info to my mother but as far as I know she has not taken any steps to visit and or register. She is stubborn (like me lol). I doubt the pending registration is her, but then who knows??

OK, A fissure is a split or tear in your rectum. Usually cause by constipation or something.... Due to the nature of where the tear is, it has a difficult time healing and in my case, never healed. So the surgeon goes and basically slices it out of that area and stitches you up to close it (hopefully permanently). This is not a fun thing and I'm STILL not sure if it was the right decision, because I'm 2 weeks post op and am JUST NOW feeling as much pain as I did BEFORE the feaking surgery... I just hope and pray that I continue to heal and this goes away.... Fun, fun and more fun.
