Hi everyone! I am new.

Looking for support , surgery scheduled next Monday 6/20/05. Excited and happy but worried about the 1st week. I am having the open RNY. Would love to talk to someone who has gone thru the first few weeks.

Actually, I haven't got a date or approved yet, I have to go to the WLS Seminar, that Dr. Titus Duncan has on June 21st before I can go any further as far as tests, etc, but hopefully it will be in the next few months or so. Melissa

I hope you are approved soon and look forward to hearing about your progress as we begin our "new life". You are so young and pretty, I am so happy you are doing this before you get to be my age (58). I wish I could have done this when I was young. Hugz Pati

Thank you for the compliment, young, hehehe, I'm 32 (33 Dec. 10th) and feel alot older might I add, I think the weight plays a big issue there. I really don't think I'll have a problem getting approved as I have other issues that will help along with the weight, but I will most definately keep you informed. Best of luck Monday. Welcome Pati! I am in the process of moving to Ray City, GA, not far from Valdosta. We will be moving as of July 1st. It has been a while since I went through the first few weeks after surgery, but if I can answer any questions feel free to email me. My surgery went very smoothly and I didn't have any problems at all. I did exactly what the surgeon told me to. That is the best recommendation I can give you right now. Hello and welcome. I didn't have open RNY so I can't really help you there but I can tell you that the emotional part was really hard for me the first 2-4 weeks so it is really important to have good people around you for support. Also I had no energy for the first 6 weeks and then all of a sudden I felt great so just know that if you feel down and tried that it will get better. Thank you Bonnie for your advice. I will be sure to follow my doctor's orders. I have a psychologist also who will help me. I look forward to talking to all of you often because that has already helped. I am so tired now and it is so hard to get around. I look forward to feeling more able to ambulate. I am older than most of you (58) and my health has really gone down in the past few years because of my weight. I have wanted this surgery for so very long. I hope you continue to feel greater every day. Pati
