My vacation starts out with a bang....
Well, I was aggravated with all the rain we were getting here in GA due to Tropical Storm Arlene, and was mad that it was gonna ruin my vacation. Instead, we started our vacation with a trip to the emergency room, and then the plastic surgeon today... My boys were outside playing baseball last night when all of the sudden I heard the blood curdling scream come from the garage.... First Nick (my 8 yr old), and then Josh (my 14 yr old). I jumped up to check to see what was wrong, thinking they had gotten into a bee's nest or something. They came running in the house, and blood was going all over the place... I finally got it out of them that Nick did his major league swing, and the bat flew out of his hands... and hit Josh just below his eye.... I got him some wet paper towels, told him to hold pressure to it, and off we went to the ER. He got 15 stitches, and luckily no breaks to the orbit. When we got home last night it looked pretty good... However by this morning, it looked like he could have been a boxer... Good Lord.... Anyway, I have posted a picture to my profile for anyone who wants to see it... It is towards the bottom, so you will have to scroll down. Poor thing... I am hoping it will start to go down soon.... We are keeping ice packs on it, and working very hard to get the swelling down. Y'all keep him in your prayers....
Susan
Good gracious! WHOA! Poor dude! I hope the swelling goes down and it heals soon! That's my worst fear as a Mother....to hear that blood curdling scream and see my child like that. I'm not looking forward to it.
BTW- Nicholas really enjoyed playing with Joshua. I'm glad they were able to hit-it-off. We went and bought him a Pokeman game afterward.LOL

Hey Susan! Wow--he took a hard knock, didn't he? Luckily no bones broken in the orbit. I wanted to share that my daughter had a similar eye injury-but believe it or not, hers looked even worse. She took a blow right to the eye when her horse swung it's head around as she was untacking it. The edge of the bit caught her right in the eyeball---swelled immediately shut and was purple in 2 minutes--blood was seeping from the corners of her eye. Talk about a fast trip to the ER---we were flying.
Luckily, no damage--just a HUGE swollen eye. Here's why I tell you this....it took almost a month for the swelling to go down. (it was over a week before the eye even opened.) Seems the eye area takes it sweet time in getting over injuries--so be prepared for a black eye for some time--and swelling for possibly an extended period of time.
Kids--keep us hopping, don't they?
Hugs to you both--
Michelle
