Approved!!
I am a 40 year old divorced woman who is morbidly obese. I have been researching WLS for the last 9 months and finally got the courage to go to a seminar. The paperwork was submitted and I was approved within 2 days. I must admit - I never thought I would be approved. While I am morbidly obese, I never believed I was "as big as those women needing WLS". HELLO - wake up!! And now the journey begins. I need to lose 20 pounds pretty quickly and am considering appetite control meds to help. If this is a no no, someone please tell me now. I don't want to do anything to compromise this surgery - my life depends on it.
Hi....
We are a friendly bunch here... so feel free join right in....
I would have been in a world of hurt without the support of the incredible people here...
You made a tough decision, and I have never heard of an approval that fast!
I used Atkins to lose almost 40 pounds before my surgery last Wednesday... it worked well for a quick weight loss and has the additional benefit of making you less hungry too.
We'll be here for you... tell us who you are and fill out the profile... you'll be glad you did
Welcome Freedom,
Don't worry, you will lose it. I dont think they really care how you lose it, but I would combine a high protein diet with the appetite suppressants if you are going to use those. If your PCP doesnt mind you taking them and you dont have any medical problems like high blood pressure or a thyroid disorder to prevent you from using them, go for it. I too was approved in 3 days...it helps when you have all your ducks in a row...lol. Good luck and let us know when you have a date.

Greeting FFF,
I can hear t your determination. I'm sure you'll do great.
Your diet after surgery is very similar to the Atkins plan so I must agree with my fellow cronies here. High protein. Low carbs. Nothing white. Limit your fruit. No soft drinks.
Please continue to ask questions, thats what 'support' is all about.
This is a very knowledgeable group of folks and very kind and loving.
I am blessed to know them
God Bless you on your journey,
Barb

Good for you Freedom!
I was told I had to do 10-15lbs and I lost 20 by drinking as much water as I could stan. I need more than the 2 liters I am taking in everyday, but what I can get in, it helped. Also, I have tried very hard to eat either lean cuisine or healthy choice meals, they do have a lot of sodium so watch the water retention! I don't think its matters if you use an appetite suppresant.
I hope this helps!
I weigh 400lbs and live in GA. I do not understand why liposuction is not an option for those of us who may not want to throw up violently when they have some sugar. I have PCOS. I eat like a bird and EVERYTHING I eat sticks to me like glue. I have nerve damage in my legs so exercise is painful and limited.
I have no job....4 degrees but people can't see me underneath all this blubber. All they see is "insurance risk". I cannot get insurance because of my weight, I cannot even find a Bariatric surgeon or any surgeon that would do this pro bono. So, I have lost 7 years of my life so far. I might has well have killed someone and went to prison because that is my life..prison.
I tried Atkins faithfully and I gained weight. I have tried every diet pill including adipex you could imagine. Liposuction permanently removes fat cells from the area they intercept and since it is ALOT cheaper, I do not see why more people dont have this done as an alternative. I would be happy to lose even 100lbs---4 25lb lipo sessions
If" anything you eat sticks to you like glue" how would the lipo help? It wouldnt change how you eat or what you eat so IMHO it would be a waste of money. The surgery MAKES you change the way you eat and the things you eat. I think maybe you need to do ALOT of research before you move foward on anything. I have reseached WLS for almost 3 yrs before even meeting with a surgeon. Anyway good luck with whatever you decide.
