Good Morning Family! I don't seem to be able to get any solid food down yet. I've been re-reading profiles the last few days and see where people have been eating since a few days out. I'm just past 2 weeks and can't even eat an egg. I don't know if this is 'normal' or if I need to worry. Any input? Also, one more thing. When can I start using mederma on my scar? I can't be wearing a cute little crop top next summer with my 'battle wound' showing now, can I? The sun is playing peek-a-boo, and my little gardenia bushes are loaded with beautiful blooms. God reminds me daily how good He is. May you all see the wonder... Love, Barb

Barb, Hi!!! So sorry you aren't able to keep down the solid food....Hmm, it's been so darn long for me. Have you tried any of the Cambells cream soups? I remember having the Cream of Broccolli, tried the Cream of Potato I put them in the blender to make them a little more smooth..Mashed potatoes with some shredded cheese? I'm so sorry that I don't have more suggestions, I think that I have blocked that part of my life, cause the first six weeks pretty much sucked..I know that I lived on sugar free fudgecicles, plain beef and chicken broth and my cream soups..Hopefully some newer post ops will jump on in with some ideas... As far as the Mederma, not too sure. Never used it myself, but you go on right ahead with those crop tops! Me, I don't think so! But seriously, I was never too concerned with my scar, it's about 10 inches down my middle, and you know what? It has faded ALOT. I can only imagine what it would look like, if I had used something... Well going to be off to Church soon, have to set up for VBS tommorrow.. Cathy

Hiya honey! Hope set up for VBS went great, you might need a vacation after working a week with the lil darlings tho... how about Hawaii? I won't wear my crop top yet... I promise LOL I'm just about tired of cream soup already, smashed taters do go down well, and I think a bit of cheese sounds wonderful. And I hadn't tried sf fudgies yet so they are definately on my list. My docs book said I should be (or could be?) eating an egg every morning but it hurtsssssss. Sounds yummy tho. I was just worried something might not be right in there ya know? Man, 10 inches? Mine is 3.. exactly..hehe and truthfully, it won't bother me a bit. Do you have a fobi pouch? Well, lets email. I love chatting with you! B

I was on liquids for 3 weeks - then I was finally able to go to soft purred foods after that....then had to take it REALLY slowly. I am over a year post op now and still have difficulty with certain foods. Eggs is one of those things that I just don't tolerate well and haven't through the whole post-op expirence. I also can't do much chicken....unless it's a "Processed" food. (luncheon meat type of foods) Take your time introducing new foods. I know you're probably getting bored with liquids - but the longer you take to introduce new foods, it seems the better your pouch will respond. Don't take ANY of my advise over your doctors recommendations though!!! I love gardening....I miss having a gardenia bush. Mine was killed last year when I tried to teach my nephew how to mow the grass.....he mowed it down and it didn't recover. I love my rose bushes.....my favorite rose just bloomed this week. The "Mr. Linclon" red rose is my absolute favorite rose bush is my garden. Gardening is my way of giving back to the earth....it's not me that allows it to grow - I just provide the plants nurishment. God has his part in it and I get to admire HIS work daily!!! I wish you all my love and paitence!!! Much Dee Dee

Hey Dee Dee, Poor gardenia... poor nephew.. I bet he was like... that was a what? I love roses and they are definately on my list to get a few bushes in my yard. We are blessed with a beautiful veiw outback and I have loved watching it come to life. Your thoughts on giving back to the earth were so cool. And helping God out with the beautiful things he gives us... Tonight I pray for patience. That God will guide me in the taming of THE POUCH. Love you girl, Barb

I cant eat an egg either, dont feel bad. I bought mederma and will begin using it when my scabs come off. I went "food" shopping last night and stocked up on soups. I was in the hospital for 2 days last week and they fed me tomato soup and I thought I was in heaven, so I went and bought more. I am trying to get liquids in, but I cant wait to eat real food... I am not cleared for eggs yet... but when I can... I want one poached with cheese on it. Come over and we can split it! Hugs, Kathy

Hey Kathy!! So good to see you!! I sure hope you are doing better and are keeping your fluids down. I have to tell you and the others... I emailed campbells and told them to be weight loss surgery friendly because we are keeping them in business! Maybe they will send me free coupons...LOL I've got to pass on the poached egg tho... I think I'll hold out for the italian food! Keep in touch Kathy, and take care of YOU! Love, Barb

Sounds normal to me Bard. I was on Campbels soups and *sometimes* soft stuff like mashed potatoes for about 3 to 4 weeks until solids agreed with me. Even deviled eggs did not go down well at week 3 but they go down fine now! Kia 284/215/155 ish
