Can anyone tell me what all do you have to go through when using medicaid?

I used GA medicaid and they don't require anything except a letter of neccesity. Your surgeon, of course will require more. I was approved in a matter of days.
I used a doctor out of Atlanta. Thats the first step, you have to find a doc that will accept medicaid, and they are becoming fewer and fewer because medicaid doesn't want to pay even close to what the docs charge. My doc charged a 'proffessional fee' of $500.00 and has upped it to $1000.00. Go figure how you are supposed to come up with this fee...???
My preop requirements were a cardio clearance, a puliminary clearance, a visit with a licensed dietician, and a psych release. Be prepared to pay for your dietician out of pocket and sometimes the psych visit too. You will also have to have a gall bladder scan if you still have one. Now, I have heard other doctors require many more tests. It just depends on the doctor.
If you have been seen by a PCP over the last year or two and you were weighed at every visit and your weight was discussed you probably have what you need for diet history.
I think I've laid out most of the basic preop steps I had taken. If you need more info, or just need to vent feel free to write.

Barb oh my Sandra. PLEASE if you can find out any information for me, I would SO appreciate it! I thought it was against the law but when I called medicaid the girl said she didn't see where it was illegal. And I really wanted to go through with the surgery so.... Man oh man, it sure would be nice to have $500.00 to put in my plastic surgery fund!
