Knee Replacement Surgery?

My mother is needing Knee Replacement Surgery and so far hasn't been able to find a doctor who is willing to do it because of her size. Does anyone know of a doctor who does knee replacement on or specializes in obese people? Thanks for the help. She is looking into WLS now but even if she was able to have it today it would take a while for the weight to come off and she can't wait. Thanks for any help.

Mercy Sandra, you have been through it! I have had problems and surgery on both knees, but no replacement. This WLS has been a godsend, I can't believe after so many years I am able to walk practically pain-free in the knees, ankles and feet! I see by your profile that you have found wlsandyou.com It is a wonderful site, I have been a member for over a year. There is a wealth of information on that site concerning lymphodemia and Amy is a terrific person for sharing such personal information in order to help so many. Oh, and the parrot, I laughed when you said he is singing the Vonage commercial song! I'll bet you are real careful about what channel the TV is left on! Torre, I don't have a surgeon to recommend, but I wanted to let you know I feel your Mom's pain. I suffered for years with my knees, had surgery on both, and was told that I would eventually need a knee replacement but because of my weight I was not a good candidate. Well, I am finally down to 155 and feeling great and my knees are no longer a problem! I wish your Mom the best and hope she finds a good surgeon or solution. Patti
