Tired all the time!
I am about 3 1/2 weeks post op and I am still tired all the time. When do you start getting more energy? I am taking my vitamins and drinking water and the protein shakes (yuck), I am eating real food too. I would sleep all day if I could. I have lost 35 pounds so far and I am very proud of that but I want to feel like my old self. Any suggestions? thanks, Lisa
Hi, Lisa,
I was tired for a LONG time...months. I ended up changing vitamins twice and getting B12 shots. I think different people have varied results with the same vitamins. I started with Flintstones two a day, went to three a day, changed to Centrum chewables, and ended with OptiSource, ordered from Wal-Greens. I feel much better now. I felt an immediate energy surge from the B12 shot. The first few were done at the doctor's office at $15 a pop. I now give myself an injection once a month. I am almost at one year now, and feel much better. I was also a bit old to begin with (46), so that may have affected my slow energy return. Increasing physical activity should also help!
Feel better soon!
Becky
Yes, but some people get one twice a month. I think the doctor will determine what works best for you. My regular PCP prescribed it. If I knew then what I know now, I would have gotten it earlier. I tried the B-12 under the tongue, but it didn't do it for me. See if you can get that shot, Girlfriend!
Hugs,
Becky
I am a little over a week post op and have discovered that I do not like protein shakes..... But... I have discovered the International House Coffee (they have sugar free flavors) I mix one table spoon in with the protein shake and it makes the world of difference.
This is the best....
One Unjury protein supplement
One tablespoon of sugar free coffee mix (French Vanilla or Swiss Mocha)
3 ice cubes

Lisa,
I distinctly remember the tired feeling at the 3.5 week mark. I've had bouts of "tiredness" over the last (almost) 11 mths. I'd say that the B12 shots, vitamins, protein and excercise have worked the best for me.
Also, getting my daily fluid intake helps a lot and then there are times that nothing helps but some good old fashion rest!
I guess the bottom line is....you do all you can but it happens given our situation and all you can do is push through it. It will get better in time.
Hugs,
Tonya
