I did not use Dr. Lin, but I went to the seminar at Emory that he gave. He seemed very knowledeable and caring, I stayed and talked to him after the seminar. I wound up using Dr. Daniel Smith also at Emory because of scheduling. I have had no problems since surgery and can basically eat all foods within reason just in small quantitites (I havent tried sugar or carbonated beverages--b/c I dont know want to know if I can tolerate them). I am 3 months post op and have lost 62lbs. If you have any other questions about Emory or the process, just give me a holler. Good luck to you! Kelly S

I completed all of my testing on 01/05/05 and my surgery date was 02/16/05. I think it really depends on the surgery schedule though. My surgeon, Dr. Smith is a general surgeon and does alot of other surgeries besides WLS. Hopefully you wont have to wait long. The waiting can really get to you. Hang in there, you are on your way! Hi Quinby, I used Dr Hart for my wls but have met Dr Lin at 2 social occasions that the Wings Around Atlanta group have held. I also have met several patients that used him for their surgery. They are all pleased with his sevices and I believe he has a very low complication rate. The process with Emory however can be long. I at first thought that was due to incompetence of the support staff as many people relate stories of lost paperwork and scheduling of tests not being done in a timely manner. However, Dr C. Daniel Smith (also of Emory) spoke at the last Wings meeting and explained that the Emory philosphy is a total concept not just rush you through and get the surgery done. They want the patient to understand the commitment it takes for this surgery and the tool you are given to work. So they have it structured in a certain way and you must follow their program in their timeline. Hope this helps and if you are looking for actual patients try logging onto yahoo and look for the wings around atlanta messageboard. Marie post op, 12/02/03 lap rny, Dr Hart 539/382/250
