GA BCBS HMO :-S

Has anyone that has this insurance been informed that there is a July 01, 2005 cutoff date for Bariatric Surgery as a covered benefit?

Denecia, I am a state empolyee and I found out three weeks ago that the state benefits (all insurance providers) will be cutting out WLS as of July 1st. I started trying to get approved 04/01/05. I have all my clearances as of last week. I am biting my nails waiting for approval and surgery date b4 the cutoff.

Yeah I heard that the HMO cut off it July 1st, but thats just HMO, I have BCBS POS and they told me that they will pay through the year of 2005. ~Melissa~

My wife and I were visiting our doctor's office yesterday. After I asked them what the latest was with BCBS, they said that The surgery has to be completed by July 1 of this year. They are working like crazy at the office in Gainesville to get their patients taken care of by then. They are going crazy with all the scheduling. Good Luck!
