HELLO EVERYONE, I HOPE SOMEONE CAN TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG HERE? I AM 7 WEEKS OUT AND FOR THE FIRST FIVE WEEKS I LOST 29 POUNDS BUT FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS ... NOTHING THE SCALE HAS NOT MOVED. I KNOW I HAVEN'T OVEREAT BECAUSE ALONG ABOUT MY 3RD WEEK OUT , I DEVELOPED A BAD ULCER AND HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO EAT VERY MUCH,MOST OF THE TIME I CAN'T EVEN DRINK ANYTHING BECAUSE I CAN FEEL WHEN IT HITS MY STOMACH AND IT HURTS FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES EVEN WITH THREE DIFFERENT MEDICATIONS. I AM BEGINNING TO THINK MAYBE NOTHING WILL REALLY WORK FOR ME. I WANT SO MUCH TO LOSE THIS WEIGHT AND REALLY WORRYING THAT THE WEIGHT LOSS FOR ME HAS ALREADY STOPPED, EVEN THOUGH I CONTINUE TO EXERCISE AND TRY. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVISE?

Ba patient, Robin! I didn't hit the "plateau" until a little after you, but I spent about 3 1/2 weeks with the scale going up a pound, down a pound, up a pound, down a pound. Then it finally broke. Try to increase your exercise above whatever you're presently doing ... take an extra walk every day, take the stairs a time or two instead of an elevator, and I bet you can kick start the weight loss again. (Now, 4 months after surgery, I'm down 70 lbs., so don't give up!) Cheryl.

Hi Robin, I have read so many times that if you aren't getting in like 800 calories a day that your body will shut down because it is in starvation mode. THAT sounds like what is happening to you. Also, if you can't even get any liquids down you may be dehydrated and you definately MUST call your doctor. Pleaseeeeeee call your doctor! Thinking of you and sending Gods Blessings, Barb

Robin, I was the same way. I have just now broke the cycle of gain, lose, gain, lose and I am 9 weeks out. I am down 42 lbs finally, not as quick as I want too but it is my fault becuase I am not exercising enough. Dont give up, but you do need to eat more even if it is yogurt or something. Hello Robin, I just wanted to share with you that since my surgery..I have not been on the scale except two times...and those were the times I had to go to my Doctors follow up appointments..I think if you watch the scale so close..it kinda gets discouraging when you are not seeing any type of loss...I am around 8 weeks out..and there are days I feel like I have ate good...other days it seems like I have not eaten at all...to my suprise I have dropped 50 lbs..already..I know its hard not to watch the scales..keep in mind that you are in no way eating like you did prior to surgery..and the weight will come off..thats how I see things..I know that I have to be a different in the way I eat now..but I dont let it control me..and become obsessed about it..like some people do..remember this is a shock to your body..and when it gets less amount of food..your body has a natural defense and will slow down the fat burning to conserve...if you think you are already at a plateau..which I dont think you are...the body just needs time to adjust to the less caloric intake and your metabolism will adjust as well...we didnt get fat overnight..and it wont go away overnight also...

I agree with the other posters. I too hit a stall at the same time you are in now - mine lasted 2 weeks. Since then I will lose a pound to 3 pounds then stall out for a few weeks - it drives me NUTS lol. The weight you lose in that first month is the best, it DOES slow down from there. Just take a breath, avoid the scale for a few days and try to get in more water. If it hurts, maybe you can play around with it. Try it lukewarm, or icecold. Try milk. Crystal light. Tea. Whatever will get you drinking again! I found out that on days I drink a LOT, I lose more weight. Good luck to you !
