Need some advice please :)

I am one month out and I am so disappointed I am only down 18 lbs. I read on here every day how much folks have lost . I have followed my doctor's advice and diet to a tee. The good news is that I feel terrific and have not had any complications, for that I am most grateful. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thank you all you fine folks Janet

Heya ... from what I have read it seems that people really lose at different rates.... .... and if you think about it, losing 4 1/2 pounds a week would have been very tough to do without surgery... You're doing great....

Janet, what was your starting weight? I've heard other people referred to as "lightweights" starting out may loose more slowly than folks who have a long way to go. Kelle

Hi, Janet, The good news is that the weight continues to come off. We met a lady at our Saturday get together who is over two years out and has continued to loss after the so-called window ended (eighteen months). Try not to compare yourself with others. It will drive you crazy. Usually, at about your stage, the body slows down to adjust to the quick weight loss. It will start coming off again...PROMISE! Hugs, Becky P.S. I bet we're neighbors!

Dear Janet, Just read your profile & want to congratulate you on your enthusiasm & achievement. Your discouragement at "only" losing 18 lbs. in 4 weeks is a "flag on the field," however. That's how dieters think. And while we're all expert dieters, we ended up having surgery because we came to know the truth - dieting does not lead you into a lifelong healthy, normal body. To make the behavioral, emotional & attitudinal shift into normal wellness involves a willingness to explore new ways to take care of ourselves on a heart level.
