Welcome, Sandra. Let me tell you that this is a WONDERFUL group of people! They are all so supportive and kind. If you can, try to make it to one of the luncheons or support groups. My husband had WLS with Duncan's group on 3/23/05...he has done great...lost over 60 pounds so far!!!! I have submitted all of my information in to insurance...so, now I'm just waiting. I hope to hear good news soon. Trust me, the risks scare me to death. I think I was more nervous for my husband than I was for myself. I have been overweight my entire life. So, being thin is a foreign thing for me. Good luck to you on your journey, and it was nice to "meet" you!

I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE this group of people.... they saved my life and I am forevere grateful. Not only that they are all so nice and niether I, nor my husband had a single complaint about their practice! Read my profile and also all the reviews of them. They are so great and oh yeah, did I mention that I love them? Feel free to e-mail me any questions and best of all, go to the seminar and you will agree... they really do know their stuff! Dr. Duncan is on Good-Day Atlanta every Thursday AM between 8 am and 8:30 he talks about all sorts of health related issues. He is great but so is Dr. Johnson who actually performed my surgery. Good luck! Rhonda C. 320/202/130

Wow thanks Stephanie and Rhonda for your replys. I am excited about going to the seminar but my boyfriend is throwing a million negatives out at me i know he is worried about me having this done. But it is not helping the motivation here. Did any of you have a good support team when you had your surgury? I mean i know i have friends and family that back me up but i just need to know alot of people made it through this amd were successful i guess. I have tried every diet in the book and i always gain more back plus it doesn't help i have had to use steroids for psoriasis on my hands. I look at my 3 yr old and i want to be able to enjoy her growing up but right now between high blood pressure and all this weight i am so tired all the time. I know i am in here some where if i can shed some of this outer shell. Thanks for all the kind words. They are so appreciated.

Sandra, Welcome, I to will be going to the seminar June 21st and hope my journey starts there. I have heard and read all GREAT things about Dr. Duncan and do believe he is one if not the best in Atlanta. I also have heard of more successes with this surgery than failures, I know quite a few people who have had it and are doing great, and let me tell you I met Rhonda C. and her husband at a WLS support group last week and they are wonderful people and have nothing but GOOD things to say about Dr. Duncan. Hi Sandy, I had surgery 3-29-04 with Dr. Duncan. I love this man he has change my life in so many ways. I love the fact that how he stresses this is a tool, there are things you have to do to maintain this. I had no complications what so ever. But always rememeber everyone is not the same what went right for this person might not go right for the next. He has one of lowest leak rates out there. He stresses what you have to do, he makes you feel comfortable. I live in Savannah, Ga I made the trip up there 5 times just to complete everything I needed to do. I would do it again in a heart beat. I weighed 239lbs Im now 125lbs. This surgery is a blessing from up above to help Obese people, get their lives back. Dr. Duncan is a wonderful surgeon go to one of his seminars meet him. Get as much info as possble about him, the surgery etc....

Welcome to the GA board. I will be having surgery with Dr. Duncan group on June 6th. I have all good things to say about Dr. Duncan. His office is very busy but all good things are worth the wait right. Good luck to you in this life changing adventure. When I first started this journey I had certain members of my family who, had all kinds of negative comments so I just let them know they have no idea what I'm going through or how my weight is affecting my health and my life. I had to let then know I'm doing this for ME and not for them. I also decided not to tell that I have gotten approved nor do they know I will be having surgery in a couple of weeks. Just remeber this surgery is for the well being of your health and your life. Again good luck. Shon

read the regretts forum.i't not as scary as it sounds.i't lets you know what you can do mentally to get ready.it does mention some srious complications, just remember that they are not the norm.but....it does happen.it made me realize what i might have to deal with afterwards, that others fail to mention! good luck the dr. only do so much, our part is the hard part!
