I'm trying to prepare myself for surgery on June 6. Any suggestion from anyone from vitamins to what to take to the hospital. I was also wondering if anyone was taking Juice Plus vitamins. My surgeon's office highly recommends them. My time is getting closer very quickly so any information would be helpful. Thanks you guys in advance for your Shon

Shon, I haved taken Juice Plus in the past but not since my surgery. I chew 2 Fintsones Complete a day...at least 2 hours apart. I also chew 2-3 calciun tablets a day..also at least 2 hours apart. Your body can only absorb so much at a time. Do you have a dietician? What do they recommend? This is what I took to the hospital..and I used everything. Blistix/chapstick a smll fan that clipped to the bedrail (I loved this because I was hot and them cold.... the fan helped during the hot stages A CD player with relaxation CDs (I dont do TV and never turned it on....) several loose gowns and robes. slippers soap, shampoo, blow dryer, deoderant, toothpaste, toohbrush, brush or comb lotion (my skin was soooo dry) breath mints A set of really loose clothes to wear home...your belly will probably be distended Big "grandma" panties --loose and not constricting on your belly I didnt take make up....would not bother I hated the hospital gowns...got out of them fast Best Wishes!! I took so many things I didn't need. The only thing I needed was the chap stick and a pillow - and clothes for the ride home. I actually wore a set of PJ's home cause I didn't want to have anything restrictive on my tummy. If you get tired of watching TV or listening to radio - SLEEP!!!! I thought I'd get to read and enjoy being "taken care of"......I WAS SO WRONG! I had to actually get up and walk....imagine them wanting me to take care of myself! Ask your doctor what he want's you to have. As far as the juice plus...I've looked into them several times but they are expensive....so I take regular vitamins. Let me know if you take them and they work for you! Dee Dee

Hi Shon, I'm taking Juice Plus (whenever I remember it), and it's actually capsules that have 7-8 different types of fruits and veggies in them, with all the sodium, sugar, and water removed. So it's a great way to get in all the nutrients from fruits and veggies when our diet is so limited, particularly in the early months after surgery. (If they have a vitamin supplement per se, I'm not familiar with it.) Blessings to you, Cheryl 1/26/05 Dr. Scarborough 282/216/goal 140
