Mandate/House Bill??

Whatever happened to the House bill that would require insurances to cover WLS? It seems like we went the opposite direction. I have been told that none of the State Merit Insurances options will cover WLS at all anymore? Anyone have any inside info?? Thanks!

I don't know what happened to the House bill, but I am a state employee and I was very sad to find out three weeks ago that as of 07/01/05 none of the State of GA plans will cover the cost for WLS. I am pushing for clearance and a surgery date scheduled prior to that cutoff. I started trying to get approved in March. I am hoping its not too late. I have completed everything needed to get approved. Just waiting!! Have you looked into self-pay insurance companies? If I don't get approved. I am going to look into it and drop the state insurance next enrollment in December. There will be a special enrollment in December because they are changing the annual enrollment period.
