Suegery May 25th!!!!

Can anyone please let me know how long my mother needs to stay with me full time after the surgery. How long before I can drive? My pre-op appointment with Dr. hart is not until Thursday, but I want to make plans now! Thanks in advanced!!! Emily Brady Dr. Hart May 25th, 2005

Hi Emily, I had my surgery on a Wednesday, got out of the hospital on Saturday, and my mom stayed until Tuesday, the day my drains were pulled. At that point my docs allowed me to drive, so my mom headed back to Jax so my son could get back to school down there. I was fine, and my 8 yr old was helpful as much as an 8 yr old could be (which sometimes was too helpful... lol). I would think barring no complications, a week would be fine, or if you felt like you needed her longer than that, maybe two weeks. I know I love my mother dearly, and I am so appreciative for all of her help, but I also enjoy my time alone too. Hi Emily, Actually, I did not have anyone who was with me FULL time. My best friend did spend a LOT of time over here and my youngest son was a big help, so I guess I probably had one or 2 days with at least SOMEONE here at all times, but then my friend went back to work, and my kid went to camp, so I was on my own. I was allowed to drive after 2 weeks. But, I had OPEN surgery, so my time may be longer than you. CONGRATS and best wishes to you!!! Tami

Emily: My hubby stayed with me at the hospital Wed and Thurs, I went home on Friday and my mom came and stayed with me Friday. On Saturday, everyone went to work and home and left me alone for 8-10 hours and I was fine. Of course everyone is different and I had lap which probably made it easier to get up and down.
