Hey gang, I hate to post all this stuff but need to get it off my chest. Newbies - what I am about to post do NOT think this will happen to you or that you will have any of this.... For the last month I have been in and out of the hospital. It began with a sudden attack of vomiting that continued and continued. I had a bleeding ulcer. A couple days stay and good drugs I came home.. Then the following week 3 days again. Only really really liquid food gets down. They determined I also have a stricture!!! and last weekend on Saturday, I had a sudden pain attack me that left me breathless and stayed on strong. I have had 2 boys and let me tell ya that was nothing to this pain. Off to the Emergency Room and I was having a gall bladder attack. Can I just say THANK GOD for MORPHINE. The ultrasound taken on Monday am showed I have polyps (15 to be exact) that had fortified (hardened) and one probably had gotten stuck. So tomorrow is pre-op. Monday is the big surgery day. Dr. Hixon will be doing an open gall bladder removal. Dr. Richter will be doing a scope to fix the opening in my pouch and to look at the ulcer. I am so thankful that all of this will be easily fixed and I will be on my way to recovery. I am dreading the liquid after surgery diet and the dry mouth again. BUT looking forward to the no pain, no vomiting, no gain!!! End note, wonder how much the gall bladder weighs - freebie lost of weight!!!!!! just kidding..... Love you guys and miss ya. Days go by that I don't feel like sitting in front of the puter, but want to to see what everyone is up to. Hugs, Lynn

Hi, Lynn. I know how you feel about not wanting to sit in front of the computer. I do it all day at work, and most of the time it is the last thing I want to do at home. I do sneak in some reading of posts throughout the day for breaks. I'm sorry to hear that you are having to go through all of this, but think how much better you will feel. My prayers and thoughts are with you. You will make a full recovery and feel like a million bucks! I laughed at the idea of losing weight from them removing your gall bladder. That was funny. Take care, Stephanie

I am still pre-op, but I guess its best to take out the gall bladder when you have gastric, or atleast thats what I have read, Although I would prefer lap but if it's best to take out the gallbladder with the surgery then I will gladly go open. Melissa

Sorry about all you have been through lately. Hope you will soon be feeling like yourself again. BTW, don't expect too much weight loss from the actual gallbladder. A healthy gallbladder is only about 4 inches long and not much bigger than a very large pepper. Maybe some other useless organs would like to donate themselves to the cause. denise

Lynn, I am so sorry to hear about your misfortune lately, and it almost scares me that you can have those difficulties that far out from surgery. I am only 7 weeks and ouchie....it scares me to death. I will keep you in my prayers and I am sure the pain will be much better after the gall bladder comes out. As far as the weight of the gall bladder..hmmm..it weighs only a couple of ounces...sorry no free weight loss there, but the diet afterwards will make you lose weight....lol. D'Lynn
