Appeal letter for plastic surgery.
Has anyone had to do an appeal letter to BCBS for denying authorization to have a tummy tuck? I was denied by my insurance company and it is coming upon a year since the denial. I would like to get some information on doing an appeal.. Even though I work for the surgeo that does Gastric Bypass, we do not do appeal letters so I do not have any experience in this. I would like to do it right the first timel. Can someone assist me in this?
Thank you,
Denise

I first went to my PCP and had him refer me to a plastic surgeon. Then I had my consult with the surgeon and they sent everything to the insurance for me. All I had to do was wait on the answer, which I was denied. But I talked to another plastic surgeon's office this afternoon and she said that in order to have my tummy tuck covered by insurance then the tummy will have to hang completely over the pubic area, in which my doesn't, but it is enough to be irratating. I hope you have good luck in getting yours approved.
