Best quickie pre-surgery diet
Heya all
I need to know the quickest and easiest quickie diet I can suffer through for awhile so I can lose 40 pounds to appease the surgeons request.
If Atkins, is there a down-and-dirty food list available? I really don't want to read a giant book full of theories and exercise info... just looking for something like "Eat XXX for breakfast, XXX for lunch" etc...
I hear about liquid diets... what exactly are we talking about?... those doctor supervised medfast things or the semi-yucky chocalate shakes you can buy at the grocery store?
Thanks!
the only quickie pre-surgery diet that i know of is the cabbage soup diet. you can lose some weight with it, but you wont eat any cabbage again, after that. i have it at home. i will bring it with me tomorrow and send it to you. what doctor are you going to? why do they want you to lose the weight first?
Atkins is your best bet.
For breakfast foods I suggest lots of eggs, cheese, bacon, sausage.
For lunch/dinner hamburger, tuna, etc.
Basically to follow Atkins, look at the food labels and keep your entire daily carb intake below 20 - other then that, eat lots of protein. You will prolly get a headache/feel crappy for the first few days while your body adjusts to the new diet (I always got a headache). Do not eat any high carb foods like bread, pasta, sugar (refined or any other kind), potatoes, etc. Again, read the labels for everything. You would be surprised where they hide carbs (for example check your ketchup!) good luck !
