Worry wort central....
Ok, let me preface this post by saying that I can be a real worrier at times...I come about it honestly. If worrying had been an Olympic sport, my grandmother would have medaled every time.
That being said, I'm having issues with worrying about the pace of my weight lose. I know that 172 pounds in 9 months is awesome....but it feels to me like it's starting to slow down. I think my perception is flawed by becoming a dreaded scale jockey! I never thought it would happen to me....well, mostly I never thought I'd get small enough to weigh at home. And now that I can, it's driving me crazy. So far I've been able to restrict myself to once a week, but I have cheated a couple of times, and the scale has even gone up on me once while doing that.
I know everyone says to limit your scale time. I understand why. It's just so hard when you're 16 pounds away from one of your major goals and it feels like it's taking forever!
I worry about my weight lose window. I had heard you get 18 months of rapid weight lose, then it slows to a crawl. What has everyone else's experience been? I have a little less than 200 more pounds to loose. I worry about getting all off.
Any suggestions? (other than stay off the darn scale!)
Kelle

well i know i slowed down at about 9 months but they say everyone is different and to never judge yourself to others ...So i think you will be fine ...I was reading on another board that something was still going strong like at two years ...So i think you will be fine Kelle .....
By the way when will we see a new picture of you ???
Laura

Kelle,
Purely speaking from my own expierence, my weight loss slowed down about the 9 month mark. I continued to lose until about the 15 month mark, and I have been the same weight since.(give or take 4 lbs)
Having said that, when I stopped losing at the 15 month mark, my surgeon told me that my body has found a comfortable weight. I was just 6 lbs from goal of 130. We are all so different, you have already lost more weight than I, but where we are so alike is the scale. It is so easy for me to tell you to weigh yourself just once a week, that is what I tell myself too, but it doesn't always work out that way. Before my surgery, I didn't even have a scale, and now, my husband has taken it away from me twice already. Even though I have yet to way myself this week, I have thought about it constantly. In the end though, my weight will be what it will be, and I have to deal with it.
You will continue to lose weight Kelle, I have no doubt about that. If you are worried about the pace, I guess you could try excersizing, making sure you are getting enough water, and making sure that everything you eat has some sort of protein. I still do this, protein first, everything else after.
I hope that I have helped, and it is so nice to know that I am not the only one out there that is a worrier!!!

Hi, Kelle,
Since I am just ten months, I can't give you firsthand words of wisdom, but I have read of folks losing past 18 months. When I have been on plateaus in the past, I jump-started by eating a lot of chicken, green vegetables, and oranges...three days. Now, sadly, I am on a plateau, and I cannot eat chicken. I have a feeling I need to up my exercise...I tend to count leg lifts in the tub and walking the halls at school. Is that honest? Have you had time to exercise as of late, My Dear?
Kelle, I believe in you, and I am confident that you will get it all off.
Becky

Thanks so much ya'll for the support! I am exercising now, I do at least a mile every morning, some mornings I get in 2 miles. I do the Walk Away the Pounds tapes....I think I'm getting enough protein, but the water is an issue. I need to focus on that.
I plan on getting a new pic on here soon.
Can't wait to see ya'll on the 30th!
Kelle
Hi Kelly, I can't wait to meet you at the lunch on the 30th! I read your profile before my surgery and you are such an inspiration to me! I think your weight "removal" (we look for things that are lost, and I don't think you are looking for that weight to come back, right?
) is fabulous! I can't say much about what to do since I am only 4 weeks post-op (I'll leave the advice to the pros who are further out than me!), but it could be that your body is getting used to you exercising....that dreaded "muscle weighs more than fat" deal. I think you'll see more weight removal soon...just keep up the great work with your protein, water, and exercise! You are so cool!
Take care,
Ginger

I Am glad you posted this because I have been worrying this week also
I am just about 2 months out now and have lost only 42lbs. Everyone says that in the beginning everyone loses alot of weight and fast, then eventually it slows down. I am worried that I am losing too slowly now in the beginning, what will happen to me later??? Also, at times I worry that I will stop losing altogether. I know I am not suppose to compare myself to others but it is soooooooooooooooo hard, especially when I would love to lose at least another 130-150lbs!
I went yesterday and met with my nutritionist and turned in my food diary, she says I am right on track with water and protein and all my vitamins, and as for the weight loss, she thought I was doing well. Of course she is a skinny minny who has probably never been more than 5 pounds overweight, so of course 42lbs sounds fabulous to her.
Any ideas??????
Kelly S
